A childhood pact. A brutal crime. A test of loyalty that will change everything.

They were inseparable, three best friends who built their own secret world on a quiet island. They promised to always be there for each other. But that promise is shattered when one of them is arrested for murder.

A signed confession. The evidence is damning. And yet, the truth may not be so simple.

The Island We Built is a fast-paced, emotionally gripping novel that blends coming-of-age nostalgia with the tension of a true crime mystery. As the story moves between past and present, it explores the unbreakable bonds of friendship, buried family secrets, and the power and peril of loyalty.

Set against the backdrop of immense wealth and a flawed justice system, this is a story about the price of growing up, and what happens when the island you built starts to crumble.

Tim George’s debut novel blends the heart of Stand by Me with the intrigue of The Life of David Gale, a compelling tale that won’t let readers go until the very last page.
